The home button allows for rapid tab retraction, which is especially beneficial during rough seas. Auto retract on ignition key off/on is also available with this option. |

SEASTAR ADAPTIVE TRIM TABS: The adaptive trim tabs provide smart integration with NMEA2000 data. With the Hole Shot Mode enabled, the tabs automatically adjust at take-off to get the boat on plane efficiently. Once the set RPM or speed is achieved, the tabs move to the favorite position for optimal ride performance. When the throttle goes into reverse, the tabs automatically fully retract for safety and control. * For Hole shot and Automatic Tab retraction, a public NMEA2000 network is required that has the necessary engine data. You will need Gear position and Engine RPM on the network to use these features. If the data can be displayed on an MFD, it should be available. |

The SeaStar Control Dial allows you to effortlessly roll the boat for a leveled ride, and the Home button retracts the tabs to the default position. You can also save your preferred tab position with the Favourite button. The Auto Brightness button automatically adjusts the LED brightness for optimal visibility. Understanding Trim Tabs: Enhancing Boat Control with Dometic
Trim tabs are a pair of carefully positioned plates, typically crafted from high-quality stainless steel, strategically installed on the transom of boats. In some cases, boat builders may opt for custom-made trim tab plates, also known as "blades," constructed from composite materials like fiberglass or carbon fiber.
The primary function of trim tabs is to effectively redirect the flow of water around the boat's transom. By adjusting the position of the trim tabs, the water flow can be precisely controlled.
Lowering both trim tabs simultaneously generates an upward force at the stern, causing the bow to lower and providing effective pitch control for the boat. Lowering a single trim tab influences the opposite bow, granting control over the boat's roll.
The combined pitch and roll of the boat determine its overall position, referred to as its attitude. By making necessary adjustments to the boat's attitude using trim tabs, numerous advantages can be attained. These include accelerated planing, improved stability at lower speeds, increased top speed, correction of minor leaning, enhanced ride comfort and visibility, minimized bouncing motion (porpoising), and improved fuel efficiency.

MOUNTING TRIM TABS
When deciding where to mount trim tabs, there are several things to consider. The outboard edge of the tab should be 1" to 4" (25 to 100 mm) inboard from the chine. The further apart the trim tabs are positioned, the more effective it is in controlling the side-to-side position of the boat. The edges of the tab should be at least 2" (51 mm) from a hull strake. Also, to avoid interference with the engine, the tab must be at least 8" (205 mm) from the lower unit's centreline. |
