Navico Unveils New Saltwater Trolling Motor
Marine electronics giant Navico has launched its first saltwater trolling motor, the Recon, under its Lowrance and Simrad brands. The new motor boasts impressive power, GPS anchoring, and a cutting-edge joystick remote control.
“Recon is built to put anglers on the target and keep them there,” said Navico in a statement. The company claims the motor's powerful thrust and highly accurate GPS anchoring system can hold a boat within a three-foot radius, regardless of conditions.
The standout feature is the FreeSteer remote, which allows anglers to maneuver the boat with precision using a joystick. This includes diagonal movements and the ability to adjust anchor positions without re-anchoring.
The Recon is compatible with NMEA 2000 networks, integrating seamlessly with multifunction displays. It comes in 24-volt and 36-volt options and features a near-silent brushless motor.

How CDI Ignitions Work
A Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI) system is the electronic heart of your engine's ignition. It replaces older, less efficient ignition systems and delivers a powerful spark for optimal combustion.
Here's a simplified breakdown: As the engine runs, a charge coil generates electricity which is stored in a capacitor. A sensor determines the exact moment to release the stored energy. The capacitor discharges its energy with incredible force through the ignition coil which generates a high-voltage spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the engine's cylinder. CDI systems offer several advantages, including improved fuel efficiency, increased engine performance, and a more reliable ignition.
